Two very old, absolutely decorative holiday chests, made by E. Otto Schmidt Nürnberger Lebkuchen, great metal boxes with embossed decorations and a historical motif from Nuremberg: "The Kaiser is coming". The image comes from the old original copper engravings. An explanation of this copper engraving in old German writing can be found in the lid of the metal chest and indicates that this box is probably an early piece of the gingerbread manufacturer.
The fine part is in good vintage condition, with contemporary signs of wear, the grounds are in good condition, with fine rust particles, slight scratches, some paint abrasion, metal body with abrasions, scratches, on the outer edges of the lid there is clear abrasion and rust particles (see photo), “Inner Life” covered with appropriate traces of time, light particles of rust, beautiful patina - traces of time that charmingly emphasize the authenticity of this old piece.
